The most recognizable Gallerist of them all – with her iconic purple hair, chunky bracelets and statement McQueen dresses – Pearl Lam was listed by Forbes in 2013 as one of the most powerful women in Asian business and in 2014, she was recognized as one of the top 25 women in the art world by Artnet. Her outspoken, individual, and charming character makes her a force to be reckoned with. Here, she gives us her insider scoop on places to go this week during Art Basel: Basel.

1. Fondation Beyeler
Great space with great exhibitions. At the moment, they have a Gerhard Richter exhibition from May 18 – Sep 7, 2014. I was there for the Jeff Koons exhibitions, the sculptures looks amazing in their garden.

2. Vitra Museum (Not in Basel but very close in Germany)
Different buildings from famous architects, also it is nice to look and shop Vitra’s new products from furniture to small accessories, then enjoy a simple and nice meal in their restaurant.

3. Restaurant Schuetzenhaus
Traditional Swiss food with a big, nice garden. The building was built between 1561-1564 for Rifleman Basel, and was converted into a restaurant in 1945. You can see it from the logo of the restaurant.

4. Afternoon tea at Les Trois Rois
It is the best hotel in Basel and located in the center of the city along the River Rhine. Good sweets with nice view for a relaxing afternoon.

5. Restaurant Kunsthalle
This restaurant has a nice garden and old wall painting. It is a kind of “tradition” that you have to have a table there during Art Basel /Design Miami Fair.
