Summer Safari chic is a tried and tested trend – one that does beach friendly fashion and city sleek in one fell swoop. This season, there are several ways to work the look. Whether it’s pulled together and preened or mixed in with print, safari style is sure to set the summer mood. Here are three ways we’ll be working the look.

1. Short and sweet: Working a safari short suit a la Belstaff is a great way to do a look that works well for both smart and casual. Pair with a simple silk blouse and minimal heels to keep it looking slick. Pictures: Catwalk SS13 Belstaff, Burberry Brit silk shorts, Theory leather sleeved blazer and nude Givenchy wedges from www.net-a-porter.com, blouse by Eqipment, Thu Thu culottes, J Brand leather shorts, Haute Hippie laser cut jacket and Boy by Band of Outsiders blazer all from www.matchesfashion.com, Kotur Saber tooth necklace available here and Peel in leopard available here.

2. Pair with print: To mix it up a bit, work your simple safari shirt with a printed skirt for the pretty way to do it for Spring. Pictures: Catwalk Max Mara SS13, safari style shirt and ikat printed mini skirt from www.topshop.com, nude silk blouse by Equipment, Kenzo snake embossed skirt from www.mytheresa.com, DKNY leopard print skirt from www.matchesfashion.com, Pamela Barcelo wedges and Herve Van Der Straeten cuff and earrings all from www.net-a-porter.com and Kotur Morley in snake available here.

3. Top to toe: For the sleekest approach, a safari style skirt suit or simple dress will be one of the hardest working items in your wardrobe this summer. Pair with statement accessories for a day to night dressing solution. Pictures: Catwalk Edun SS13, Victoria Victoria Beckham khaki v necked dress and Ashley Pittman set of bangles both from www.net-a-porter.com, Stella McCartney Kaia silk dress, Equipment Remy silk utility dress and Lucy Choi snake print shoes all from www.matchesfashion.com, Morley in African Batik print available here.

As the official start of the summer season, Memorial weekend brings with it brilliant opportunities to break out your sunnier wardrobe. Dresses, white jeans, statement sandals and peasant blouses are all well due their time in the limelight, and this season gives great looks perfect for their wardrobe debut. Here are three ways we’ll be working a bit of Memorial Weekend chic.

1. Stripes: As seen at Michael Kors and many others, stripes are big for Spring Summer. Whether you go for the top to toe look (a la Kors and Dolce and Gabanna,) or take the slightly easier route by mixing a stripey top with simple jeans, or striped skirt or shorts with a plain white tee, dress it up with great gold jewellery and chic snakeskin accessories and you’ll have a look that’s as elegant as it is effortless. Pictures: Catwalk Michael Kors SS13, Black and white and red and white striped Dolce and Gabanna dresses, Eddie Borgo cuff and Chinti and Parker striped top all from www.net-a-porter.com, Emma Cook high wasited striped shorts, Dolce and Gabanna green and white stripe skirt and Alexandre Birman sandals all from www.matchesfashion.com, gold chain earrings by Topshop, white T shirty by T by Alexander Wang and Kotur Margo in snakeskin available here.

2. The Summer Dress: As ably demonstrated by Bottega Veneta, you can’t really beat a pretty summer dress. Whether floral or graphic, go for a print, and pair yours with a simple wedge and natural accessories for a relaxed take on pretty. Pictures: Catwalk Bottega Veneta SS13, blue and white printed dress by Derek Lam, red and white printed dress by Red Valentino, green silk summer dress by Donna Karan and Dolce and Gabanna earrrings all from www.net-a-porter.com, espadrille wedges from Christian Louboutin, MaxMara weekend white dress with green floral pattern from www.matchesfashion.com and Kotur Morley in Raffia available here.

3. Luxe Boho: The boho girls will go for white jeans this summer – mark our words. Pair yours with a luxe boho blouse and statement jewellery for the uptown way to do hippie for now. Pictures: Catwalk Isabel Marant SS13, jeans by Frame denim, Isabel Marant purple paisley blouse, Chloe pink and cream silk blouse, Ikat printed silk top by Derek Lam and Givenchy nude wedges all from www.net-a-porter.com, beaded bracelet from www.topshop.com, white embroidered Talitha cotton peasant top from www.matchesfashion.com, Kotur Saber tooth necklace available here and Freida B.Y.T. clutch available here.

When asked by Harpers Bazaar recently for her top Hong Kong tips, Fiona came up with her must do guide to the city we so love.

Here it is for you.

What are your favorite things about Hong Kong?

Even though I’ve lived here for 11 years, the element of surprise still exists and I love that. It’s a city with extraordinary variety, an urban metropolis that’s also got great hiking trails and beaches, shops range from tiny family owned antique spots on Hollywood Road that have been there for years to brand new mega malls, and all of it has an amazing buzz.

When is the best time to visit?

Undoubtedly for the Hong kong Art Fair, which will be Art Basel for the first time this May. It’s an amazing week when incredible galleries from all over the world come to exhibit, with a huge opening night, fascinating talks and some pretty good parties. I couldn’t recommend it highly enough.

Favorite daytime activity

Exploring the local markets is by far and away my favourite activity. I might be looking for silks in the Western market, traditional beads in Hong Hum, leather in Sham Shui Po or meeting family owned hardware companies in Mongkok but I’m always guaranteed to come across something unexpected.

Favorite neighborhoods

I love Sheung Wan, a neighbourhood that’s changing by the minute. Our office is here, and we’re surrounded by Chinese antique shops, brilliant little restaurants and The Cat Street Gallery, a great contemporary art space that’s always got an interesting show on.

Favorite Places to eat and what you order

Lunch at the Kee Club is a must for Dim Sum heaven.

Favorite cafés

Heirloom right by my office does delicious coffee and feels like a little slice of downtown New York in Central Hong Kong

Favorite Nightlife/bar

When friends come to visit, you can’t beat the views from Cafe Grey at the top of The Upper House hotel, or Sevva in the Princes Building for a post work glass of Rose on a warm evening

Favorite places to go shopping

The best way to go is bespoke. Tailoring in Hong Kong is second to none – and quick! So great for visitors to check out, too. Sung in Kowloon cuts the best clothing, or you can head to the Mandarin Oriental and Elsa at Tse to make your jewellery dreams come true or Mayer next door for custom made leather shoes, bags and travel bits and bobs.

Favorite spots for relaxation

Hong Kong is full of lovely reflexology places – for the ultimate lazy afternoon, a foot massage and movie at Ten Feet Tall on Queens Road Central is pretty hard to beat.

Favorite scenic spot/not-to-be-missed sight

I love going out to Shek-O. Somehow those big waves and beaches feel unexpected on Hong kong island, and the views out to sea high above Shek-O beach are pretty breathtaking.

Favorite hotel you would recommend to friends

For a slice of old school Hong Kong, the Mandarin Oriental is a must. Delicious restaurants, old world bars and the best service in the world.

What’s your ideal outfit for a weekend in the city?

It can get pretty hot in Hong Kong, so a nice crisp cotton safari style dress from Bottega Veneta, some Balenciaga Sandals, one of our own necklaces and a raffia oversized clutch like Francesca from our new Spring collection would do just about right!

Best Beauty Essentials?

Hong kong living can leave your skin needing a little TLC. I use an SK11 mask once a week and Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair Cream every night to help fight the consequences of city living.
