Not to mention, it will include couture and avant-garde samplings from Laurence Xu, Paul Poiretto to Yves Saint Laurent.

The fashion world’s Oscars is soon approaching on May 5th. While we will be glued to our screens to see the glamourous ladies of this year’s MET Gala all decked out in their Charles James inspired gowns, a recent New York Times article shines a spotlight on what the gentlemen will be dressed in this year. Anna Wintour put out a call for full evening attire, do you know what that entails? See our favorite quotes below and the full article here.

—

“Tails are very hard to pull off without looking totally kitsch. You don’t want it to look like a Liberace ball.”

“Why, the question seemed to ask itself, should women (and Marc Jacobs) get to wear all the fun stuff?”

“That, for the benefit of those who grew up under the dark clouds of Casual Friday, means a black tailcoat, a waistcoat, a wing-collared shirt and white bow tie. Let’s not forget the sheer silk socks, patent leather evening pumps, medals and rosettes.”

“But I’m not sure where you’d go to find tails. And if I don’t know where to get it, who in the hell does?” – Jay Fielden, editor of the society bible Town & Country.

“Go out on the street, Mr. Halevi advised a reporter, and ask a passer-by to describe white tie and tails. “They’ll have no idea”, he said.”

KOTUR is extremely proud of the starring role our little bags have played on the red carpet over the years. Lucky enough to accompany a stunning array of stars to everything from the Oscars to the Met Ball, the Golden Globes to the Emmys, our minaudières and clutches have attended some of the most fabulous parties out there on the arms of some of the most glamorous women. From KOTUR classics such as the Espey and Margo, to fashion favorites like our feathered Fino and graphic Levin, our bags have proven the perfect accompaniment to any red carpet look. Here is a roundup of some of our favorites.

Emma Roberts stole the show at the 2014 Golden Globes wearing a Lanvin dress and our Margo Minaudière.

Hayden Panettiere rocks the red carpet at the 2013 Golden Globes, offsetting her Roberto Cavalli with our Espey snakeskin clutch.

In 2013, Kerry Washington wears our Espey in Rose Snakeskin to offset her gorgeous Oscar de la Renta gown at the NAACP Awards. The look was featured at the top of Vanity Fair’s Best Dressed List later that year.

Elle Macpherson wins our vote for best dressed as she reveals our Operation Smile minaudière to the world at the 2012 Golden Globes.

At the 2010 Met Costume Institute Gala, Naomi Watts was styled by Anna Wintour, who made sure she was carrying KOTUR.

Scarlett Johansson looks ethereal in Armani Privé and our Candela minaudière at the 2010 premiere of Iron Man 2.

Tina Fey carries KOTUR’s Margo in black satin to the 2010 Academy Awards.

At the 2010 SAG Awards Diane Kruger accessorizes her show stopping Jason Wu with our Creel minaudière.

Amanda Seyfried wows with KOTUR’s Creel, Valentino Couture and Fred Leighton jewels at the 2009 Academy Awards.

Adele + KOTUR’s Candela minaudière + 2 Grammy awards = Perfect Night.

At the 2009 Golden Globes Renee Zellweger looked absolutely breathtaking carrying our D’abo in Ayers Snakeskin.

Emma Watson carries our monochrome feathered Fino at the Empire Awards in February 2008.
