When it comes to holiday packing, it heeds to take advice from the experts. Luckily, help is on hand this week in the form of Divia Harilela. A Hong Kong based Fashion Editor whose blog www.the-dvine.com is widely read across Asia, Harilela is a keen traveller and high priestess of chic. Here she shares the contents of her suitcase for a recent trip to Capri.

My Celine Trio bag – it’s indispensable on any vacation whether it’s the city or beach. I have it in various colours, but red is my favourite.

Tod’s sandals – Everyone talks about K.Jacques, but Tod’s sandals are durable but also beautifully made and classic. I buy a few pairs every summer.

Tabla cover-ups – Their East-meets-West cover-ups are super chic and feature stunning hand embroideries from India. Plus, they go easily from beach to dinner – pair them with a pair of gold flats and you are good to go!

Tees and cotton dresses from J.Crew and Alexander Wang – I have these in various styles and colours. They work for any destination

Maui Babe Browning Lotion – I discovered this in Hawaii many years ago and always travel with it. It gives you the perfect golden brown tan!

Gold jewellery from Herve Van Der Straeten – His cuffs and earrings are perfect for the summer and are made from hammered gold. The designs are bold but always elegant, people always stop to ask me about them.

KOTUR Glitter Globe Clutch– It’s my current favourite because its playful yet chic. I’m obsessed with the gold glitter!

Holiday Highlights: Watching the sunrise during a hot air balloon ride over Cappadocia in Turkey where the unique rock formations look like you’ve stepped off a Star Wars movie set and waking up the view of the bosphorus in Istanbul. And my entire trip in Capri was magical, from dining under the lemon groves at Da Paolino and people watching in the piazzetta to discovering the white and green grottos on a private yacht.

As fans of print, we are always trying to source new and unusual fabrics to work with every season. For Spring, that journey took us to Indonesia, where we collaborated with local foundation Cita Tenun Indonesia on a series of very special bags.

Cita Tenun works to preserve and encourage the development of indigenous textile weaving techniques found in regions across the country. Working directly with womens groups, Cita Tenun gathers their extraordinary works together and sells them as a collective – ensuring a fair price for producers and giving these amazing weavers access to a global market. At Kotur we were particularly taken by their Endek fabric, a traditional Balinese product associated once upon a time with Princes and aristocracy. Still woven in the hills of the island, it is a woven ikat that makes for standout bags – and has a wonderful sense of craft about it. For Spring, we reworked our Margo in it’s brilliant weave featuring several different colourways. They are available online exclusively here.

Just opened this week, Mobile M+: Inflation is a brand new exhibition of temporary inflatable structures curated by M+, the new museum for visual culture in Hong Kong’s West Kowloon Cultural District. Set in what will soon become the district’s park, the has exhibition brought artists from China, the UK, the USA, Korea and Hong Kong together to create enormous, giant balloon like structures of over 3 stories high that loom over the Hong Kong skyline.

Accessible via a concrete maze, the giant Lily Pads, inflatable Stone Henge replica (including bouncy castle!), rat featuring glowing red eyes, solar panels and more that one finds when roaming through the installation are full of drama – and not just a little bit playful with their distorted sense of structure and scale. Peeking inside the installations, one finds crazy colours and cavernous spaces, whilst, from the outside they seem entirely otherworldly set against the stark urban jungle of the city’s skyscrapers. Designed to challenge preconceptions of how we interact with art in public spaces, the exhibition is a visual feast, and a must for our Hong Kong friends.

As huge supporters of FilmAid Asia, we were thrilled to go along to their incredible gala dinner, held last Saturday in Hong Kong’s Clearwater Bay Film Studios, the region’s most prolific film centre. Hosted by Donnie Yen, one of China’s biggest film stars, and with a special appearance from Uma Thurman, who flew in especially to show her support, it was a starry night with a standup purpose.

Guests arrived to the industrial space to be greeted by a jazz quartet and lashings of champagne, courtesy of Moet, FilmAid’s partners for the evening. With the great and the glamorous out in force (many carrying Kotur, we are pleased to report,) it was a star studded affair. Sophie Ellis Bextor, in town to sing at the Gala’s after party, paired her stunning outfit with Kotur’s special FilmAid clutch, as did Josie Ho and Uma Thurman.

Clearwater Bay studios were transformed for the evening, filled with huge long tables adorned with flowers (and yes, more champagne,) for a delicious dinner topped off with the most sensational deserts (most definitely one of our personal highlights.) The auction raised $3.5million Hong Kong dollars, all of which will go towards the charity’s brilliant work using the power of film to bring lifesaving information and much needed hope to refugees around the world. Lots such as tickets the Roland Garros tennis tournament, a heli-skiing trip and a series of Moet magnums signed by Uma Thurman and delivered with a kiss, proved predictably popular.

After dinner, it was all about the after party, where dancing continued until 3 am. Guests left with a specially designed FilmAid Asia tote – a goody bag filled with Santa Maria Novella cologne, Aesop products, Laduree chocolates, C Wonder speakers, Moet and much, much more. Its was a fittingly glamorous finish to an extremely glamorous evening.

Click through our gallery above to see pictures from the night.

Kotur for FilmAid Asia

Throughout the night, Kotur’s FilmAid Pearce clutches were on sale. The two special editions of our Pearce minaudière have been designed especially for the charity, with all proceeds from their sales going directly to FilmAid Asia and are available to buy on our website here.

“Every day I drive past a Frank Gehry house being constructed along my road. To me, it represents new ideas, shapes and materials, outspoken and yet graceful in their traditional urban setting.”

During my ongoing real estate search, my quest eventually brought me to the recently completed OPUS, Frank Gehry’s building and the first of this iconic architect’s Asia projects.

Gehry created a swaying surface of glass and steel, echoing the bamboo so integral to Hong Kong’s natural landscape.

Among the first few to see it complete, I can only appreciate those who will have the experience of living within this infusion of art and nature.

Held in the stunning setting of the historic former Shanghai Club at the Waldorf-Astoria hotel on Shanghai’s Bund, the event was co-sponsored by KOTUR and my friend, the fabulous image consultant, Kim Robinson. I donned my Roland Mouret and piled on my Gem Palace indian vintage jewels to join the brightest and best of Chinese high society at the debut Shanghai debutante ball this January.

Chaired by Vivian Chow, the event was co-ordinated by the formidable committee members from the London season who swept into China with a selection of international and local young ladies to debut. All the debutantes looked stunning – and all carried KOTUR, of course.
